Electric Light Orchestra - Out Of The Blue Tour Live At Wembley:The Seventies was the decade when rock became show business, and nobody put on a better show than the Electric Light Orchestra. The whole world plugged in as the best of classical met the pop generation. The result? Classic rock! George Harrison himself once said that if the Beatles had stayed together they would have sounded like the ELO. But their Out of the Blue Tour took them into another dimension altogether.Captured live at Londons Wembley Arena in 1978, this space-age show will live forever in rock history as - quite literally - out of this world. Shimmering strings and spectacular special effects conjure up sights and sounds that Spielberg himself could only dream of, "Ole ELO" read the headlines - and with no less than nine Top Thirty hits the musics more than a match for the visuals.Jeff Lynne, once of the Move and ELOs singer/songwriter extraordinaire, went on to electrify the world with Dylan, Harrison, Petty and Orbison as a Travelling Wilbury. But hell never surpass this laser-lit feast of stadium rock at its mind-boggling best. When Star Wars met Chucky Berry, the result had to be seen to be believed. Now you can see it - and believe it - as the light shines on!Featuring:Standing In The RainNight In The CityTurn To StoneTightropeTelephone LineRockariaWild West HeroShowdownSweet Talkin WomanMr. Blue SkyDo YaLiving ThingRoll Over BeethovenElectric Light Orchestra - Discovery:ELOs 1979 album Discovery reached number 1 in the UK charts, spent a total of 46 weeks in the top 50 and gave birth to some of the bands most memorable hit singles including: Shine A Little Love (number 6), The Diary Of Horace Wimp (number 8), Dont Bring Me Down (number 3) and Confusion/Last Train To London (number 8).These classic hits, along with other gems from the Discovery album, are all featured in this superb DVD which truly captures the musical magic of ELO, a band whose place in the pantheon of popular music is well assured.Shine A Little Love ConfusionNeed Her LoveThe Diary Of Horace WimpLast Train To LondonMidnight BlueOn The RunWishing Dont Bring Me Down

The best-selling authors of The Nanny Diaries introduce a new heroine to root for: Jesse O'Rourke, coffee barista, high-school senior, and unwitting reality TV star. Imagine there was never a Laguna Beach, a Newport Harbor, the shimmering Hills. Imagine that your hometown - your school - is the first place XTV descends to set up cameras. Now imagine they've trained them on you. When Jesse O'Rourke gets picked for a "documentary" being filmed at her school in the Hamptons, she's tempted to turn down the offer. But there's a tuition check attached to being on the show, and Jesse needs the cash so she can be the first in her family to attend college. All she has to do is trade her best friend for the glam clique she's studiously avoided, her privacy for a 24/7 mike, and her sense of right and wrong for "what sells on camera".At least there's one bright spot in the train wreck that is her suddenly public senior year: Jesse's crush has also made the cast. As the producers manipulate the lives of their "characters" to heighten the drama, and Us Weekly covers become a regular occurrence for Jesse, she must struggle to remember one thing: the difference between real and the real real. 1. The seventh installment in the popular Carrera military science-fiction series.  Carrera's held off his enemies coming by sea from the north, in the process dealing the naval and amphibious forces of the Zhong Empire a stinging defeat. The Zhong won't soon forget the blood-stained waters and the heaped-up bodies on the shores of Balboa's Isla Real.  Now, though, his adopted country of Balboa is under assault from the east, from the south, from the west, from the air, and from space. The Zhong, smarting from the butchery around the island, have bounced back and forced a lodgment east of the capital. Their lodgment is still abuilding, but when it is done, Carrera can expect several hundred thousand brave and determined Zhong to show up on his barely defended flank. The Taurans, remembering their military roots, have assaulted Balboa from the south, taking half the area of and cutting the Transitway that joins Terra Nova's Mar Fusioso and her Shimmering Sea. In the process, they've cut off and besieged the second city of the country, Cristobal, trapping inside the city Carrera's Fourth Corps and overrunning and capturing a large portion of Carrera's artillery train.  West of Cristobal, the Taurans have created, almost from scratch, a series of small ports and airfields to support their siege. Inside the town, a sense of desperation is growing among the men and women of the Fourth Corps: Has their leader forgotten about or abandoned them?  Meanwhile, another Tauran Expeditionary force secures Balboa's eastern neighbor, Santa Josefina, as a base against them. In space, the United Earth Peace Fleet, under the command of High Admiral Marguerite Wallenstein, keeps as low a profile as possible, all the time spying and feeding intelligence to both Zhong and Tauran.  It's beginning to look like the game is up for Balboa and Patricio Carrera. But Carrera's been planning this war for 15 years. He certainly hopes his enemies think they' 1. Language: English. Narrator: James Fouhey. 'Purists argue that colourising black and white photographs is sacrilege, but the world has always been in colour. Truth be told, monochrome is a contrivance. Human experience is always colourful' The Times . The epic, harrowing and world-changing story - in words and colourized images - of global conflict from the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand to the obliteration of Hiroshima by the dropping of the first atom bomb. The World Aflame will embrace not only the total conflagrations of 1914-18 and 1939-45 and the international tensions, conflicting ideologies and malign economic forces that set them in train, but also the civil wars of the interwar period in Ireland and Spain, wars in Latin America, Britain's imperial travails in such places as Ireland, Somalia and Palestine, and events on the domestic 'fronts' of the belligerent nations. Like The Colour of Time , The World Aflame is a collaboration between the gifted Brazilian artist Marina Amaral, and the leading British historian Dan Jones. Marina has created 200 stunning images, using contemporary photographs as the basis for her full-colour digital renditions. The accompanying narrative anchors each image in its context, weaving them into a vivid account of four decades of conflict that shaped the world we live in today. A fusion of amazing pictures and well-chosen and informative words, The World Aflame offers a moving - and often terrifying - perspective on the bloodiest century in human history. Reviews for THE COLOUR OF TIME : 'The most breathtakingly colourised black-and-white pictures ever' Daily Mail . 'I have long considered colourisation sacrilege ... after reading this book, I've changed my mind' The Times . '[ The Colour of Time ] does something simple yet extraordinary. It takes black-and-white photos of historic events and colours them in. The effect is transformative' Daily Telegraph . 'A stunning book ... Quite extraordinary' The Bookseller . 'There is something of The Wizard of Oz about Marina Amaral's photographs. She whisks us from black-and-white Kansas to shimmering Technicolor Oz ... When you see Amaral's coloured portraits, you think: phwoar! ... She changes the way we see a period or a person' Spectator . 'The effect of colour is far more transformative than you might imagine ... [Amaral's] touched-up photographs look even more realistic, and closer to life, than a photograph taken yesterday ... Extraordinary' Mail on Sunday . 'Pictures brought to life as you've never seen them before' Sunday Post . '[Amaral] breathes new life, immediacy and human connection into black-and-white pictures. Even familiar shots are transformed in a breathtaking way ... Even the casual reader leafing through these pages will be stopped in their tracks, connected to people from the past like never before - at last, in living colour' Irish News . 'Jones sketches with wry economy not only the historical context but the purpose of the photograph, from documented reality to shameless propaganda, from official portrait to candid snap ... There is much to enjoy here. As a history book, it acts as a fleeting guide to a tumultuous century. But as an aesthetic experiment it is remarkably successful' Daily Express . 'What also elevates The Colour of Time above regular coffee table fare is the startling vivacity and impact of the photographs chosen, and the concise but focused and gripping texts by Jones, making the book a worthwhile cover-to-cover read as much as it serves as a showcase book to dip into at will' All About History .

With declining passenger revenues Burlington President Ralph Budd realized something unique was needed to lure passengers back to train travel. The result was the Zephyr. The Zephyr's appeal during the Great Depression was tremendous, its sleek lines and streamline design was the beginning of a styling revolution. In 1934, the only real hope was the future and the future was the Zephyr. A Burlington Superintendent best summed the Zephyr experience in these words, 'You would first notice a speck of stainless-steel emerging out of the distant haze. Then in spectacular fashion it would flash by, a mass of shimmering steel, traveling a hundred miles an hour and within seconds vanish again in the distance.' Featured in high quality photos and descriptive captions the Burlington Zephyrs are shown in a variety of scenic, rural and urban settings. Also included are vintage brochures, timetables, postcards and ads.
